#VoicesofJAF – December 19th – Julie Rubini

December 19, 2015 by Kat Krieger

“We have impacted over our 14 years, Our Little Reader Gone Way Too Soon has impacted over 200,000 families members and children throughout our community and we’ve given over $35,000 to our local library system.” -Julie Rubini

How does a mother survive the death of her 10-year old daughter? In Julie Rubini’s case, she honors her daughter, Claire’s greatest passions and benefits thousands of others. Claire Rubini most loved to read. Her parents founded Claire’s Day to inspire children and families to be lifelong readers. Today, Claire’s Day hosts an annual Book Festival for over 6,000 people. It hosts Authors & Illustrators in school classrooms, touching close to 9,000 children and teachers in meaningful reading experiences. And it celebrates Reading Excellence through Claire’s Awards for Reading Excellence Awards (C.A.R.E.) – highlighting “most improved struggling readers” – which teachers and parents report are the inspiration for these children to learn.
