GlobeChangers Master Class – Waine Tam

July 19, 2017 by mitchellcohen

The Jefferson Awards Foundation’s GlobeChangers program is an incubator for young social entrepreneurs, multiplying their impact through mentorship, training and a strong support network.

Waine TamThe GlobeChangers team is proud to present our third GlobeChangers Master Class – a series of webinars that build meaningful dialogue between world-class mentors and the GlobeChangers community. Our third Master Class will take place on Wednesday, August 2nd at 7:30PM EST, and our guest will be the incredible Waine Tam.

Waine is CEO and co-founder of Selected, an online matching and hiring platform for K-12 teachers and schools. Selected launched in 2016 and now serves 350+ schools and thousands of teachers in 4 states. Before founding Selected, Waine was Chief Operating Officer of iMentor, a Gates Foundation-backed, national mentoring non-profit that matches mentors with students in Title I high schools across the country. Prior to his efforts in education, Waine worked in the financial services industry. He graduated from Princeton University in 2001 and majored in Electrical Engineering.

The theme of this Master Class is “Be Rounded – You find the best holiday gifts when you’re not even looking for them.” This is a topic that has touched many parts of Waine’s experience as a first-generation college student, entrepreneur, and volunteer. Throughout his life, Waine has found that engaging in new and “rounded” experiences – even when it wasn’t obvious how he would benefit – helped him tremendously on his personal journey. But we also want to hear about how this topic has touched your life as a young innovator and leader. What does “being rounded” mean to you? Do you find your best “holiday gifts” when you’re not even looking for them? Post your responses to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram with the hashtag #GlobeChangers.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more details on this exciting new program.

GlobeChangers Master Class is a series of webinars that allow GlobeChangers around the country to connect and engage with an unbelievably talented array of mentors — professionals, activists, leaders, and social entrepreneurs. Through Master Class, we hope to continue building meaningful dialogue on some of the most important issues to young leaders – expanding on the mission of GlobeChangers and leveraging the wisdom of mentors on a new, digital platform.
